Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern participation in courses and seminars organised by Themis Academy Ltd, a company registered in Malta (“Themis Academy”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By registering for a course or seminar, participants (“you” or “the participant”) agree to these Terms.

1. General Information

  • Themis Academy Ltd provides Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses and seminars for professionals in the justice, social care, and education sectors.

  • All activities are conducted in English and are subject to Maltese law and jurisdiction.

  • The official time zone for all online sessions is Central European Time (CET/CEST).

2. Registration and Payment

  • Registration is completed online through the Themis Academy website or as otherwise instructed.

  • Full payment is required to secure a place unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • Course or seminar details (schedule, delivery mode, joining instructions) will be confirmed by email after registration and payment.

3. Minimum Numbers and Course Confirmation

  • Courses require a minimum of five (5) participants, except the Developmental Psychology course which requires six (6).

  • Themis Academy reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a course if the minimum number is not reached or due to unforeseen circumstances.

  • Participants will be offered a full refund or transfer to another date in such cases.

4. Cancellations and Refunds

Courses:

  • Notify Themis Academy in writing via email to cancel.

  • Refunds or transfers may be available if cancellation occurs within the timeframe specified in the course policy.

  • If a course is cancelled by Themis Academy, participants will receive a full refund.

Seminars:

  • Refunds are available only if the seminar is cancelled by Themis Academy or if you cancel at least 72 hours before the start time.

  • No refunds will be issued for later cancellations or non-attendance.

5. Attendance and Certification

  • Participants are expected to attend all scheduled sessions.

  • A Certificate of Attendance is issued to participants attending at least 80% of total course hours.

  • For online courses, joining links will be sent by email on the eve of each session.

  • Certificates confirm the number of CPD hours completed.

6. Delivery and Learning Environment

  • Courses may be delivered online, in person, or hybrid.

  • Sessions are live and interactive; recording or redistribution is prohibited.

  • For online/hybrid sessions, participants must keep cameras on for engagement.

  • All participants must act respectfully and professionally.

7. Tutors and Content

  • Tutors are recognised experts in their fields.

  • We may substitute tutors or adjust content to maintain quality.

8. Intellectual Property

  • All materials (slides, handouts, resources) are the property of Themis Academy Ltd or its tutors.

  • Materials are for personal, professional development use only.

  • No reproduction, sharing, or distribution is allowed without written permission.

9. Data Protection and Privacy

  • Personal information is handled according to Maltese data protection law and EU GDPR.

10. Liability

  • Themis Academy Ltd ensures the accuracy and quality of content but does not guarantee specific outcomes.

  • We are not liable for any loss, damage, or expense from use of materials or course cancellations beyond our control (e.g., illness, technical failure, force majeure).

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

  • These Terms are governed by Maltese law.

  • Any disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Maltese courts.
